A Person's Dream is Another Person's Nightmare

who dreamt that dream in 1915
when we woke up it was because of a nightmare
a big ol screen appeared
but not one person like me was there
just white men with face paint running from pointy white hoods
who dreamt that dream in 1975
the affluent sent out a notification
inter-dating resulted in being hung in front of the nation
now, we were in films, but with extreme limitation
who dreamt that dream in 2001
how can so many faces have the same personality
one character now accounts for us in totality
the rest, like the film about X gets snubbed
and training day gets loved
WHO. DREAMT. THAT. DREAM!
thousands of bodies later
we can finally sit in a theatre
with our suppressed ideas
expressed without a filter
So the world got selma
our production rattled the locks of the guarded gates
They still ain't open
We witnessed an institutional beating
And don't think it's changed in meaning
But the shackles are gone so this is the beginnin
